One week has now passed since the start of the year. Doing a quick mental evaluation, I’m satisfied with the amount of necessary work done. Off to a pretty good, (but albeit somewhat slow) start of the year, if you ask me.

Anyways, here’s an interesting fact which you probably have no interest in, but I found it fascinating, so I’ll put it here and you can do nothing about it.
The origin of the balikbayan box industry largely stems from a national economic recession of the Philippines, set into motion, allegedly, by the dictatorship of a past president.
I didn’t know this and I’m from there. I got learned this by listening to an episode of this podcast. I recommend giving it a listen yourself. It’s very intriguing and it might spark a sense of national pride if you’re from the country mentioned above. It did for me.
